Regulatory requirements. In accordance with section 23.403 of the Federal Acquisition Regulations, the Government’s policy is to acquire items composed of the highest percentage of recovered materials practicable, consistent with maintaining a satisfactory level of competition without adversely affecting performance requirements or exposing suppliers’ employees to undue hazards from the recovered materials.
Notes: Purchasers should select the options allowed in this document and should specify type, class, grade, size, and length of pipe required in the contract or purchase ordering document. Class B pipe is commonly connected by means of insert fittings while class C pipe because it is made from higher density material is most satisfactorily connected by fusion joining in accordance with ASTM method D 2657.
Copies of Military Standard MIL-STD-105required by suppliers in connection with specific acquisition functions should be obtained from the contracting activity or as directed by the contracting officer.
